From the Homily
Of Father
Jose
“Jesus is the Resurrection and Life”
|
|
Jesus came to
give us grace and life. Because of sin all people were spiritually
dead. Through his death and resurrection, Jesus defeated Satan and
eternal damnation. He came to promise eternal life to every human
being, who believes and trusts in him. Just as He wept before the
tomb of Lazarus, Jesus weeps over all those who are either unaware
or unwilling to believe in the eternal life. Jesus grieved because
of people’s distrust in Him, not listening to Him. Even Martha and
Mary, his close friends had failed to listen to Jesus. They did not
understand who He was, but they knew that Jesus had a special
relationship with God. Martha said to Jesus: “I know that whatever
you ask of God, He will give you” (John 11: 22).
In this gospel,
Jesus took the death of Lazarus as an opportunity to make very clear
that He was more than a miracle worker with special access to God.
Jesus demonstrated that by raising Lazarus from the dead, He was
indeed the resurrection and life. We all need resurrection. We all
need a new life, for we are dead spiritually. Jesus gives us that
new life through the sacraments, especially Baptism, Confession and
Holy Eucharist. Today, Jesus is challenging each one of us to come
out from our graves by confessing our sins! Let us use this time of
Lent to cleanse our hearts and minds.
“Jesus, you are
the resurrection and life. Give us a new life so that we can be
your true disciples.”
Amen

Mass and Stations of the Cross
Every Friday during Lent we will have Mass followed by Stations of the Cross at 7:00 p.m.
Generational
Healing Mass - Saturday, April 5th
The next healing Mass will be a Generational Healing Mass, Saturday,
April 5th at 5:00 p.m. Prior to attending the Healing
Mass pray and ask God to heal all the wounds in your family and try
to receive confession before attending the Mass. Bring a list of
all your family members and indicate any addictions and/or illness
to be healed next to their names. Place these requests in the
“Prayer Petitions” box before Mass.
Spring
Fest Meeting
Our Spring
Fest is April 11th and April 12th. We will
have a weekly meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the church hall every
Wednesday until the Spring Fest. This is one of
the largest fund raising projects for the parish. Everyone’s
support and prayers are needed for a successful event.
Bishop’s Lenten Appeal
Once a year,
Catholics in the Diocese of Saint Augustine come together as "One
Family of Faith" and reach out to those who need help in the spirit
of love. The Bishop's Lenten Appeal is conducted annually during the
season of Lent. The appeal gathers individual sacrificial gifts to
help the greater church provide a lifeline to more than 100 agencies
and programs that work to make God visible to those in need. Each
Catholic home received a letter from Bishop Galeone asking them
to participate in this year's Lenten Appeal. Please read the
materials and consider sending your gift by Easter.

Generational Healing of
the Family Tree
In Lamentations
5:7 it states: “Our forefathers have sinned and are now dead, and we
bear their punishment.” The Healing of the Family Tree is directed
to lifting this punishment or bondage of body, mind or spirit; and
this is done by applying The Healing Power of the Eucharist.
The core of the
Healing Service is the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass celebrated for the
intention of healing these bondages that are transgenerational in
one’s family tree.
Nothing in the
liturgy is changed in the Mass. At the close of the Mass a
post-Communion prayer is recited by the priest with the
congregation, praying for the healing of all family members of the
congregants, living, deceased, and even for those who don’t yet
exist for their preventative healing.
There is a
distinction between sin and the effects of sin. Only original sin
– not personal sin – inherited, as Paul teaches in Romans 5:12.
But the Bible teaches that sin’s counterpart, the effects of sin –
punishment – in the form of suffering, illness; inclination toward
sinful habits, addictions, etc. can be inherited.
The Holy
Sacrifice of the Mass with Communion, in both its personal and
communitarian dimensions is the most powerful means of healing any
disorder especially the family’s transgenerational bondages that
Scripture refers to.
The
Generational Healing Mass can heal our present physical, emotional,
and spiritual problems. It can prevent our family’s future
generational suffering. The Generational Healing Mass is a prayerful
and sacramental appeal to God for his infinite mercy.
